Security Personnel Training
Over recent years the role of the security guard has evolved and the private security industry is now heavily regulated. This is a welcome development since today’s security personnel are expected to perform a range of potential duties and handle increasingly sophisticated technology while conducting themselves in a professional manner.
Whether they are protecting property from destruction, damage or theft; providing access control duties; operating CCTV equipment or patrolling empty premises, Anubis security personnel are fully-equipped to provide you with a high-quality service.
Since 2006, the Security Industry Act has made it illegal for anyone in the UK to work as a contracted security guard without holding the appropriate SIA licence. There are separate licences for manned guarding, doorkeeping and PSS (public space surveillance) CCTV operation. To qualify for their licence, prospective security personnel are required to undertake rigorous training and pass an SIA-approved examination. SIA-licensed security guards should always display their distinctively striped badge while on duty; needless to say, all Anubis Security Solutions personnel hold a valid SIA licence.
What does training entail?
All Anubis security personnel have undergone industry recognised and approved training courses in order to obtain their SIA badge. The specific contents of the training can vary but will include sections on working in the private security industry, conflict resolution and physical intervention skills. Security training is a mixture of classroom-based learning, security scenarios and practical simulations. Training is provided by teachers possessing both teaching and security qualifications and are required to have had experience working in the security industry.
In order to even apply for their SIA licence, security personnel have already proven that they are over 18 years of age, hold valid identification, have no criminal record and are physically and mentally fit to take on the roles of a security guard. Therefore, you can be sure that Anubis security personnel are honest and competent and that you are fulfilling your legal duty as a contractor.
The on-site duties of a modern day security guard are varied and the comprehensive training our staff have received reflects that. Whether you require manned guarding, a key holding service or mobile patrols, you can rest assured that our personnel understand their role and can perform their duties with the required expertise.
We are aware that each business is different and that your operation may pose unique security challenges. We are able to provide bespoke training packages to ensure our security personnel are ready to hit the ground running.
A professional attitude
One of the most significant changes in the private security industry in recent years is the employment of personnel with exceptional people skills who can conduct themselves properly at all times. Your security arrangements are as much a part of your business as your other functions and we realise how important it is that our security guards behave appropriately, particularly when they are under public scrutiny. In the past, poorly-trained and unregulated security personnel, particularly doormen, have misrepresented the role of the security guard by being overly aggressive and confrontational – even violent.
Although our security personnel are equipped to physically intervene in a hostile situation, they are trained to prevent confrontation where possible by using de-escalation techniques and other conflict resolution methods. After all, the presence of a security guard is designed to make you, your staff and the general public feel more secure.
